This project involved the development and construction of a Wild Birds Unlimited retail store located at 2098 Thomasville Road. This development consists of a 2,400 sf retail store with associated previous parking, sidewalks, and utilities situated on 0.37 acres. Development of this site presented unique challenges for permitting and design.

Due to the adjacent single family property to the south, the City required intensive landscape buffers along the south boundary. Because of the limited size of the site, the project had to be permitted with deviations to allow for a smaller buffer than required. Additional trees and shrubs were planted to compensate for the reduced buffer. The landscape plan itself is unique in that all of the plant species had to be chosen specifically to be draw wild birds to the site.

Because of the small size of the site, the stormwater collection and treatment system had to be designed to fit within the proposed improvements. The stormwater collection was incorporated into a small stormwater facility beneath the arched bridge at the front of the store and in a previous parking area.

Genesis was the lead design consultant. In addition Genesis performed construction administration and management throughout the project.
