History:
The Rockdale Youth Base Ball Association established the Miracle League in Conyers, GA in 1998. Today there are 170 Miracle Leagues across the country with 65 completed rubberized fields, and the remainder playing on dirt, under construction or pending fundraising.

The Miracle League project in Tallahassee was initiated when Mr. David Jones, President of Florida Disabled Outdoors Association attended, in the spring of 2006, the grand opening of the Miracle League field in St. Petersburg, FL. Without delay, Mr. Jones decided to pursue a Miracle League Field in Tallahassee.

Making it Happen:
With the assistance of Leon County Commissioner Cliff Thaell, the idea was brought in front of the County Commission who embraced the project donating the raw land at Tom Brown Park and $75,000 in seed money. The Tallahassee City Commission also welcomed the project and unanimously pledged their support. Former Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Tallahassee, Mr. David Chapman, offered to donate the infrastructure available at Messer Park, including an existing field, lighting, restrooms, concession stands, parking, etc enabling the field to be constructed at a fraction of the cost.

Genesis:
Genesis approached the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association to donate engineering services. Working through the permitting process, Genesis obtained permit approvals from the City of Tallahassee and the Northwest Florida Water Management District. In addition, Genesis worked closely with other local firms on the construction and construction administration aspects of the project.

During the Field dedication held on November 5, 2008, Genesis received numerous compliments for donated time and work. Genesis and its employees have worked and lived in the Tallahassee community for over 20 years and continue to strive to make Leon County a better place.
