Hollinswood Harbor is one of the most unique areas in Citrus County. This project is 547 +/- acres immediately adjacent to the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway Barge Canal. It is the only significant privately owned parcel west of the US 19 Bridge.

Genesis obtained a Comprehensive Plan Text and Map Amendment to implement a new “Port District” for a working waterfront community. The project includes a thriving marina with wet slips and high and dry storage, restaurants, resort hotels, retail shopping, recreation and commercial opportunities, residential, educational, institutional and other ancillary uses as well as an industrial component that will provide jobs to residents of both Citrus and surrounding Counties. It appeals to tourists and provides a unique local place to access the Gulf – relieving pressure on nearby rivers and the manatee population while supporting boating, fishing and eco-tourism.

Since the adoption of the new Port District, the Citrus County BOCC has created a new Port Authority. The Port Authority, recognizing the opportunity that Hollinswood Harbor created, has initiated an independent study to further determine the challenges and economic opportunities of creating a new port on the West coastof Florida.
