Originally established in the Bicentennial year, Centennial Park is a phased redevelopment project to encourage increased use, provide for a wider range of activities, provide ADA compliance, and address drainage problems. Safety and security were top design priorities, driving an open, visible and well-lighted space. This 1.6 acre park is an existing one-block urban neighborhood park located in Historic Ybor City. Genesis provided a full range of landscape architecture services including hardscape, irrigation, lighting, planting design, public involvement and complete boundary, topographic and tree survey for the re-design of Centennial Park.

Genesis worked in conjunction with the City of Tampa, the Ybor City Barrio Latino and the Ybor City Development Corporation in developing a revitalization plan for this "Historic City of Tampa Park". The park redesign enhances the use for the Farmer's Market, outdoor musical events, Italian Festival and the art museum, as well as increasing general accessibility and facilitation for popular local bocce tournaments.

New landscape, pavers, lighting, permanent stage and sound system all contribute to the improved use of this historical Central Ybor Park. The final design solution was sensitive to local architecture elements inherent to the Ybor City neighborhood.
