This study was performed to determine the best circulation system and intersection design and control method for a proposed new road from Indian Beach Boulevard to Jensen Beach Causeway, including intersecting roadways. The study concluded that a two-way operation of all streets with control of the five major intersections by modern roundabouts would give the highest level-of-service and circulation. Additional benefits of using roundabouts in this project were control of vehicle speeds, enhanced pedestrian mobility at the intersections, as gateways to the community, focal points, much lower maintenance costs and less delay to traffic. The overall design produced a different ambiance than had existed previously by creating an attractive, low-speed roadway.
