Florida State University (FSU) needed to know the locations and types of regulatory/warning signs and stop bars existing on the campus. In addition, FSU needed to know the sign condition and what remedial action needed to be taken, and the maintaining agency for each sign in the inventory.

Genesis worked with FSU to identify the various signs to be included in the inventory and helped determine a grading system for the condition of each sign, sign post and stop bar. Genesis field crews collected data across the 430 acre project area by visually inspecting each sign and logging location data using sub-meter GPS equipment. The data was processed and analyzed using ArcGIS with the final outputs a geodatabase and maps. The resulting geographically linked database allows FSU to manage the installation, maintenance and remediation of their sign inventory.
