As a subconsultant to ECT, Genesis provided master planning and site design services on Depot Park, the centerpiece project of an overall brownfield redevelopment endeavor in south downtown Gainesville, Florida. Depot Park is actually a stormwater treatment facility designed as a park / amenity feature. The location was a natural selection given the City's need to provide green space and stormwater treatment in the downtown area. Further, the site contains existing features such as wetlands, rail trails and an old railroad depot.

The Genesis concept envisions walking paths, boardwalks, interpretive exhibits and native vegetation to recreate a natural North Florida wetland landscape. On-site ponds will naturally treat stormwater and reduce contaminants entering Paynes Prairie. The end result will be a functional stormwater treatment facility in an aesthetic environment.
