Genesis completed the detailed planning, design and permitting for this new State Park located primarily in Hamilton County, Florida. Big Shoals State Park has the distinction of featuring the largest whitewater rapids in Florida. The project consists of several specific site improvements including:

  • Maintenance facilities
  • Park entrance
  • Primary access road
  • Rangers' station
  • Trailhead for multi-use bike trail (Woodpecker Trail)
  • Parking area for a future outdoor education center
  • Picnic pavilions
  • Composting toilet facilities
  • Restroom
  • Nature trails
  • Canoe launch reconstruction
  • Stream bank stabilization
  • Detailed design of the portage sites for the Shoals.

Genesis worked closely with the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) to complete the permitting.
