Fort Myers Downtown Streetscape
Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company (DPZ) and Genesis Group were hired by Fort Myers to complete a Master Plan to define and enable a dynamic and economically competitive future for the City's downtown. The DPZ/Genesis Master Plan reflects a new way of approaching urban planning and development - one that views public and private actions as collaborative, continuous and evolving. The result is the establishment of an effective process for selecting and executing critical components of a shared vision.
Over 1,500 community members participated in the week long design charrette conducted in November 2001. The Master Plan was unanimously approved by the City Council in April 2002.
The Plan received a Certificate of Merit Award for outstanding Public Study by the Florida Planning and Zoning Association.
