Westshore District - Urban Design
Segment 1-A of the I-275 construction project is a proposed (3.8 miles) segment of the (36.5 miles) of limited-access interstate highway reconstruction through Tampa, Florida. Segment 1-A begins at the east end of the Howard Franklin Bridge, continuing east through the Westshore Business District. Genesis Group was retained to provide landscape Architecture, hardscape and streetscape design services for this highly visible project.
Preparation of a Bridge Aesthetic Report was required, which provides recommendations and design for the aesthetic treatment of bridge and wall elements. In addition, significant development of streetscape design for intersecting local streets was included. Other proposed elements include landscape lighting, streetscape development, public art, water features, bicycle/pedestrian access, retaining walls, and extensive landscaping.
