Highlights:
Cape Eleuthera*
This exclusive 5,500 acre island club development is situated on a tropical peninsula near the southern tip of Eleuthera, Bahamas. The conceptual approach emphasizes a second home community of varied housing types and recreational opportunities. The open space system forms linkages between such significant features as clubs, golf courses, historic sites, fresh water lenses and oceanfront parks. Ecological considerations were paramount during each phase of site investigation and design with a basic design team composed of Landscape Architects, planners, architects and engineers closely supplemented by ecologists, marine biologists, hydrogeologists and environmental experts. The circulation system closely follows contours and minimizes the impact on natural land forms. Alternatives to the private automobile are reinforced by encouraging the use of golf carts for intercommunity circulation. Dwelling sites closely follow ridges and higher elevations providing dramatic views of the water and golf courses which captures the constant tropical breezes. Residential units are equally divided between single-family detached and condominiums at an average of two and size per acre respectively. A total of 6,500 units are planned.
