Morton Plant Hospital is a 687 bed community owned hospital with nearly a century of experience meeting the health care needs of Pinellas County.  The urban campus is located within the heart of Clearwater and in addition to the normal assortment of municipal utilities it has extensive buried private utilities including: medical gas, chilled water, fiber optic, power, softened water, vacuum.

The project included construction of a 37,000 square foot emergency room facility that made it the largest in Pinellas County.  The Project required a multi phased series of smaller projects to: re-route public utilities and vacate public right-of-way, construct temporary off-site parking to offset spaces impacted during construction, demolish an existing building to construct a temporary emergency room entrance, and finally design / permit / and construct the proposed emergency room expansion.  This urban redevelopment project was unique in that it required extensive utility coordination to either avoid or adjust the existing underground utility occupation so that it would support the proposed building construction while maintaining 24/7 access to the existing emergency room.
