Traffic Calming Program

In 2001, Genesis Group was contracted by the City of Tallahassee to design and permit over 25 traffic calming projects. Each neighborhood location was evaluated individually and various traffic calming strategies were proposed to the City as well as the residents. The traffic calming solutions included any of the following:

• Speed Humps
• Mid-Block Islands
• Roundabouts
• Bump Outs
• Offset Intersections
• Raised Intersections
• Chicanes
• Landscaping design

Public meetings were held to educate residents about the proposed design solutions and to answer their questions. Once a final concept plan was developed, polling cards were mailed to residents and the results were monitored to ensure a 75% approval rating.
