City of Remerton Sidewalk Enhancements
This Transportation Enhancement project is funded through Georgia Department of Transportation and includes construction of a sidewalk, ranging from six to eight feet wide along the east side of West Gordon Street. The existing roadway is comprised of two 12’ wide lanes with roadside swales. The northbound lane will be reduced to 11’ wide and a curb and gutter will be constructed. New curb drains and piping will be installed and driveways will be reconstructed. The new sidewalk will be enhanced through landscaping and decorative lighting.
Construction of this section of sidewalk will enable pedestrians to circle the entire city limits on a protected pedestrian pathway. It will also serve to connect to the Azalea City Trail, a paved multipurpose trail that links to Valdosta State University and three city parks.
Expected Completion of Construction: June 2009
