Genesis Group was charged with designing construction plans for all fiber optic cabling, conduit, pull/splice boxes, and other components as well as fiber optic splicing diagrams for the communications network that will support existing and planned traffic signal control upgrades/expansion and ITS deployment initiatives within the Bay County, Panama City region and FDOT District 3.
This fiber optic network will allow direct communications from the TMC to all parts of the traffic system such as the controllers at the traffic signals, Dynamic Message Signs for traveler information, weather station information and live streaming video from traffic cameras will be placed at intersections as part of this project. TMC operators monitor live traffic conditions and have the ability to adjust the signal timing at each intersection to improve traffic flow or respond to a roadway incident.
The project will also provide the Bay County School Board with the necessary fiber optic backbone infrastructure providing for the future development of a communications network supporting Bay County Schools. In addtion, it will provide the communications network for all Bay County Schools for networking and video conference and video lectures.
