Pinellas Bayway Bridge Replacement*

Landscape, aesthetics, multi-use trail design and public involvement were given high priority by FDOT for this highly visible project.  In cooperation with the Cities of St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach and local neighborhood associations, the Bayway Bridge Beautification Committee was established to participate in decisions regarding bridge and roadway structural aesthetics, landscape design and trail issues.

Aesthetic and recreation elements included lighting, parapet/guardrail, bridge piers and abutments, color selection, public art selection/placement, landscape design, multi-use trail alignment, boardwalk, and site furnishings.

This resulted in a highly successful “signature” design that addressed neighborhood wishes and met or exceeded project requirements.
