Blair Stone Road
This is a 3.5 mile, 4 lane, divided urban roadway project with curb and gutter, sidewalk, bike lanes, retaining walls and signalization at three major intersections. Stormwater treatment included conveyance in a closed system, approximately 800 feet of a double 5' x 7' box culvert which encloses a portion of the City's Northeast drainage ditch, and construction of four Stormwater Management Facilities.
In addition to the roadway, a 1000 foot low-level bridge was constructed to span a wetland area. Screening walls and landscape buffers were included with the project to enhance the aesthetic quality of the roadway corridor. Bicycle/pedestrian facilities were also included and will incorporate the City's Goose Pond Bike Trail for access to local parks.
The project included a significant amount of public involvement, including:
- Public workshops;
- Numerous meetings with individual property owners; and
- Coordination with City and County officials.
Genesis prepared an interactive three-dimensional model of a portion of the project for use at public meetings. The computer generated model allowed residents and business owners to view the completed project for various locations along the corridor.
