Lake Okeechobee

Genesis Group developed a master plan for a 45 mile segment of the Florida National Scenic Trail and 7 mile historic Conners Highway Greenway adjacent to Lake Okeechobee in Martin and Palm Beach Counties. 

Genesis developed strategies to improve the safety of the state highway system for bicyclists and pedestrians, increase recreational  opportunities around Lake Okeechobee, establish a greenway to the west of US 441 from Canal Point north to the Martin/Palm Beach County lines and support rural economic development activities of the lake communities.  The project included extensive public involvement with Martin and Palm Beach Counties, Cities of Pahokee and Belle Glade, and coordination of future maintenance details between the Corps of Engineers, South Florida Water Management District, and local governments.
