Camp Helen State Recreation Area
The property was initially developed for recreational purposes as early as the 1920’s. Many of the buildings and amenities associated with that operation still exist, including a lodge, cottages, miscellaneous buildings, water tower, water well, and limerock roadways. To improve the resort, Genesis provided project management for wetland delineation, topographic survey, driveway and parking lot design, US 98 improvements, conceptual utility plan with improvements, and construction costs estimates.
From the efforts of the local community, Gulf Coast Community College, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the land that makes up Camp Helen was acquired by the State of Florida in 1994 under the Conservation and Recreational Lands Programs.
