Brooksville - US 41

Genesis was tasked with investigating a potential property for development in Brooksville, FL to determine whether the land would be profitable if purchased. Using a certified Digital Terrain Model and other hydrologic data from the local water management district for the Powell Watershed, Genesis imported this data into its GIS and began to evaluate the flooding and drainage potential for the property. By combining stormwater/flood data, a digital terrain, engineering research, and GIS, the engineers, planners, and GIS analysts were able to determine that a majority of the site could potentially flood during a 100 year storm.

With the assistance of Genesis staff, our client was able to visualize the site through printed 3D maps created using GIS technology.Not only could they visualize the site itself, but they could visualize how a 100 year storm’s impact could be detrimental to the developable acreage of the property. After reviewing our due diligence investigation and GIS maps, our client decided that the land did not meet their development goals, nor did it maximize their return on investment.
