Centennial Park Redevelopment Plan
Established in the Bicentennial year, this park is undergoing phased redevelopment to encourage increased use and provide for a wider range of activities. Safety and security are top design priorities, driving an open, visible and well-lighted space.
Genesis Group worked in conjunction with the City of Tampa, the Ybor City Barrio Latino and the Ybor City Development Corporation in developing a revitalization plan for this "Historic City of Tampa Park".
The park redesign enhances the use for the Farmer's Market, outdoor musical events, Italian Festival and the art museum, as well as increasing general accessibility and facilitation for popular local bocce tournaments.
New landscape, pavers, lighting, permanent stage and sound system all contribute to the improved useage of this historical Central Ybor Park. The final design solution was sensitive to local architecture elements inherent to the Ybor City neighborhood. Phase I imporvements are complete, incorporating the majority of improvements. Phase II will add a performance stage area, performance lighting and sound system.
