The West Town Center of Altamonte Springs, offered as a development strategy to create an identifiable center for future local commercial growth. The West Town Center will combine retail, office, institutional and governmental functions in a well-planned, multi-use environment, and serve as a center for local trade, service and civic activities for the population of West Altamonte.

This concept discourages the random dispersal of retail, commercial and office along arterial streets, that initiates strip or linear development. This pattern tends to disjoint residential neighbor-hoods, leaving them without strong community identification. The Town Center concept seeks to avoid this situation by forging a community of commercial, social and residential activities that can be distinctly identified as the West Town Center.

This 40 acre parcel, fronting State Road 431 and bordering Magnolia and Orange Avenues, is a retail core with supporting office and commercial development. It is placed on an axis of pedestrian plazas and corridors, embellished by fountains and landscaping, accessable from all sides, therefore becoming the nucleus and focal point for the West Town Center.
