Why This Location?
The site for this proposed project was chosen after a long
and careful analysis of available lands meeting a multitude
of requirements necessary for establishing a successful and sustainable
renewable energy park that benefits all parties concerned
including the community and the environment. Finding a location
which meets all the necessary criteria is rare. In
Hillsborough County, there is only location that meets all the needs.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of criteria used to select this location:
- Former Phosphate Mine, partially reclaimed
- Large Contiguous Vacant Tracts
- Outside Hurricane Evacuation Zone
- Current Status of Site Readiness due to Reclamation Programs
- Accessible Labor Force (Urban & Agricultural)
- Major Highway / Truck Route Access (fronts SR-60 for 1.2 miles)
- Adjoins Urban Service Area Boundary for Approximately 2 miles
- Electric Transmission Grid Accessibility (TECO)
- Railway Access via Bisecting CSX Freight Railway (12.5+ miles to Port of Tampa)
- Natural Gas Main Bisects Site
- Wetlands have been delineated, permitted and partially mitigated.
- Adjoining Public Utility Accessibility & Availability Capacity:
- Potable Water
- Sanitary Sewer
- Proximity to the Valrico Advanced Waste Water Treatment Plant – Potential Large Surplus of Reclaimed Water.
