What are the local economic development effects a project such as this will have?

The proposed renewable energy park will be an Economic Development Center for Hillsborough County and the entire Tampa Bay area:

  • The Alternative Renewable Energy Production Facilities of the Park are Estimated to Employ 600+ "Legacy" Workers
  • The Research, Institutional , Educational, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Distribution, Industrial, Processing, Office and Commercial will Create Thousands of Additional Jobs.
  • Approximately $580 Million Dollars will be initially Invested in the Power Production Facility.
  • Construction activities will involve 1,000's of people in the Tampa Bay area alone.
  • Approximately $150 Million Dollars are Available in Federal Cash Grants and/or Production Tax Credits for the Development and Implementation of Renewable Energy Technologies (Visit www.dsireusa.org) Urgency Since Qualifications Include Commencement of Construction Prior to the End 2010.

Note:

Recent Newspaper Articles state that unemployment in the Tampa Bay area is 12.3% . There were 60,000 construction jobs lost in Florida during 2009 with 9,400 of them in the Tampa Bay Region.
