NAIOP Recognizes Genesis for Outstanding Rehabilitation Project

At the 2011 Best of the Best Awards, held on December 7th, 2011, the Tampa Bay chapter of NAIOP awarded Genesis' Independence Park project the Outstanding Rehab - Private Sector award.

Independence Park was initially developed in 1983 for Johnson and Johnson, but had since fallen into vacancy.  Genesis' client, Highwoods Properties, acquired the property in December of 2010 including the building and associated 33 additional acres of unimproved land.  This aquisition provided the opportunity to rehabilitate and develop the largest remaining development tract in the Westshore submarket.

Genesis was retained by Highwoods Properties initially to provide Due Diligence and Conceptual Master Planning services related to the redevelopment of the property.  Currently, Genesis is providing site civil and landscape design services for mixed use to include offices, a potential hotel and supporting retail.  More Information ...

Less than one year after acquiring the Independence Park, Highwoods was able to lease the building to 100% occupancy and add two new customers to their Tamp Bay portfolio.
