The Florida Planning and Zoning Association (FPZA) held its 57th Annual State Conference in Tampa, June 10-13, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. This years conference was hosted by the Suncoast Section of FPZA and chaired by Robyn Cole of our Genesis Group Tampa Office.
The conference theme was Urban Places Rural Spaces: Planning for Tomorrow. The conference included such topics as Planning Law, Governing in Today’s Economy, Energy, Historic Preservation, Urban Redevelopment, Post Disaster Redevelopment, Sustainable Design, and Transportation among others. The conference also featured presentations by DCA Secretary Tom Pelham, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and Hillsborough County Commissioners Mark Sharpe and Rose Ferlita.
The Florida Planning & Zoning Association was formed in 1951 and consists of members from all parts of the development field: planning consultants, architects, engineers, civic leaders, bankers, attorneys, realtors, appraisers, and staff members of county and municipal departments, boards and commissions. The association’s goals consist of encouraging the observance of sound planning and zoning practices, furnishing information, advice and assistance to its members, engaging in research and issue publications and to educate the public and elected and appointed officials in matters pertaining to planning and zoning.
Robyn Cole is a Planner with Genesis Group's Tampa office with over 5 years of land development experience in community planning, zoning, and the public hearing process. She provides professional services related to zoning and land use issues, community planning, real estate due diligence, and growth management regulations. She also prepares GIS exhibits and analysis for due diligence studies, rezonings, comprehensive plan amendments, etc. Prior to joining Genesis Group, Ms. Cole was a Planner in the private sector and a Planner for Hillsborough County.
