This past week was the beginning of the steel placement for the 9th Street Bridge on the $83 million design-build Gandy Boulevard construction project. Installation began with the integral steel cap and girder placement will follow. This work will be accomplished around-the-clock over the next 5 weekends.
Since January 2014, Genesis and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 have teamed up to transform Gandy Boulevard from I-275 to east of 4th Street N. in Pinellas County into an elevated roadway with interchanges and frontage roads.
The new roadway features are designed to improve traffic flow along one of the busiest roads and key evacuation routes for Pinellas County. New features and improvements include:
